West Sahara Senior Housing Complex Opens in Las Vegas, Providing Affordable Homes for Seniors

LAS VEGAS – Clark County has announced the grand opening of the West Sahara Senior Housing Complex, a newly completed affordable housing community on the west side of the Las Vegas Valley.
The development, built by George Gekakis, Inc. (GGI), delivers 171 modern apartments for seniors, including a mix of one- and two-bedroom units. Rents start as low as $573 per month, including utilities, making the complex one of the most affordable housing options available in Southern Nevada.
Demand for affordable senior housing is high: all apartments at the new community are already leased, and a waiting list is in place. Residents will also have access to shared amenities, community spaces, activities, and supportive services provided by Silver State Housing.
County Investment in Affordable Housing

The West Sahara Senior Housing Complex is the first project completed through Clark County’s Welcome Home Community Housing Fund (CHF). The County invested $6 million from the CHF and another $1.3 million in County HOME funds, for a total investment of $7.3 million.
Elected officials and representatives attended the ribbon-cutting, including Commissioner Justin Jones, whose district includes the complex, as well as Congresswoman Susie Lee and representatives from the offices of Senator Catherine Cortez Masto and Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony.
A Developer with Experience
The developer, George Gekakis, Inc., has built nearly 700 affordable housing units across Southern Nevada. The firm is currently working on six additional communities that will provide over 800 new homes for families and seniors.
Meeting the Need for Affordable Housing in Southern Nevada
The opening of the West Sahara Senior Housing Complex highlights the urgent need for affordable housing in Las Vegas and Clark County. With rising rents and limited inventory, affordable options remain scarce, particularly for seniors on fixed incomes.
County leaders and developers continue to prioritize affordable housing expansion, with multiple projects underway aimed at helping vulnerable residents secure safe, stable housing.
