LAS VEGAS, NV — Nevada Task Force 1 (NV-TF1) is returning to the Las Vegas Valley this weekend after completing a deployment to Kerr County, Texas, where the team assisted with search, rescue, and recovery operations in the wake of devastating floods that struck over the Fourth of July holiday.

Mobilized on July 8 at the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the 47-member team, which includes emergency responders from multiple southern Nevada jurisdictions and four highly trained search-and-rescue K9s, was sent to central Texas to provide critical support in flood-affected areas.

The task force worked under difficult conditions, conducting rescue operations, aiding in recovery efforts, and helping stabilize impacted communities. Their deployment followed historic rainfall that overwhelmed parts of Texas, leaving neighborhoods flooded and local resources stretched thin.

Despite the severity of the situation, NV-TF1 reported a strong spirit of cooperation and hospitality from Texas residents. Throughout the deployment, the team remained focused on life-saving operations and community support.

The Clark County Fire Department, which sponsors NV-TF1, oversees the readiness and deployment of the state’s only FEMA-certified Urban Search and Rescue team. NV-TF1 is part of a national network of 28 such teams that can be activated to respond to disasters nationwide.

As the team returns to Nevada, debriefings and equipment checks will be conducted to ensure readiness for future missions. Their successful deployment in Texas once again demonstrates the vital role NV-TF1 plays in national emergency response.
