City Of Las Vegas To Recognize Those Fighting Against Substance Abuse

Media Invited To Cover Event At City Hall Thursday, Oct. 5

Las Vegas Ward 2 City Councilwoman Victoria Seaman will recognize those fighting against substance abuse at the Breakfast for Heroes event Thursday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 a.m. at City Hall, 495 S. Main St. The event will be on the second floor patio of City Hall.

The event will honor those in the community leading the way against substance abuse and raising awareness of this disorder. The breakfast is in partnership with nonprofit 10,000 Beds, an organization that provides treatment scholarships.

Honorees at the event include:

  • Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill for his commitment to humanity in law enforcement response to our community’s substance abuse disorder crisis;
  • Jeff Iverson and Robert Banghart from Crossroads of Southern Nevada for their efforts in providing support, treatment and recovery services for individuals struggling with substance abuse;
  • Ryan Hampton from Mobilize for Recovery for advocacy and activism efforts to raise awareness about addiction, recovery and fighting for improved policies; and
  • Stuart Smith, Sean Hampton and Tina Fennel from the Foundation for Recovery for providing support and resources to individuals in recovery.
