LAS VEGAS, NV — August 5, 2025 — Clark County’s Human Resources team recently celebrated the accomplishments of 70 exceptional high school students who completed the 2025 Summer Business Institute (SBI), an eight-week paid internship program designed to introduce local youth to career pathways in both the public and private sectors.

The closing ceremony honored these young achievers for their dedication, professionalism, and growth throughout the summer. Hosted at the Clark County Government Center, the event highlighted the program’s long-standing impact on the Southern Nevada community—now in its 29th year.

Through immersive work placements, students gained valuable on-the-job experience while serving at local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and government offices across the Las Vegas Valley. Beyond the workplace, interns participated in weekly enrichment workshops that covered essential life skills, personal finance, college preparation, and professional development.

“These students demonstrated curiosity, ambition, and a commitment to learning. They’ve set the foundation for bright futures. SBI continues to be a launchpad for future leaders.”

Commissioner William McCurdy II

One notable example of the program’s long-term impact is Clark County Commissioner William McCurdy II, who returned to speak at the celebration. McCurdy, a proud alumnus of the SBI program himself, shared his journey from student intern to elected official, inspiring this year’s graduates with the message that local engagement and early exposure can lead to lifelong success.

Parents, mentors, and representatives from participating organizations applauded the students’ professionalism and growth during the celebration. Students were presented with certificates of completion and shared reflections about how the program helped shape their career interests, communication skills, and sense of civic responsibility.

Applications for the 2026 Summer Business Institute will open early next year. Clark County encourages all current high school sophomores and juniors who are interested in exploring future careers, earning income, and building skills to apply.
