The city of Las Vegas offers two opportunities to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with festivals at the East Las Vegas Community Center and outdoors at the Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza in Lorenzi Park.

The Mexican Patriotic Committee and the city are presenting a free outdoor celebration from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 5, that includes live music, including traditional Mexican bands, mariachis, and dancing, as well as a variety of food and artisan vendors. 

Bring the family to enjoy the festival at Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza, located at 720 Twin Lakes Drive, and the adjacent park amenities. For more information on this festival, call 702.204.6521 or 702.704.9498.

Families also will enjoy a free festival at the East Las Vegas Community Center, located at 250 N. Eastern Ave. This event offers children’s activities, art displays, live entertainment, food vendors, and a community/health resource fair.

Ward 3 Councilwoman Olivia Diaz and Federación de Poblanos en Las Vegas are joined by U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen, County Commissioners William McCurdy II and Tick Segerblom, and La Campesina Radio 96.7 FM to sponsor the event. For more information on this festival, call 702.229.5428.
